The top 9 Airbnb wedding locations worldwide

2023-03-04  Diana Solomon

These romantic Airbnbs, from an Italian estate to a Chicago loft, will have you in awe.

The next wedding season will be hectic and full of activity. The rise in postponed weddings in 2022 is still hazy, and more celebrations are in store for us after the winter. Smaller ceremonies grew increasingly prevalent during the early epidemic, and DIY marriages, micro marriages, and elopements continue to be popular.

It makes sense that scaled-back days will continue to exist. Small-scale weddings offer excellent choices for destination weddings, and there are many big hotels, resorts, and more traditional locations to pick from, a few cozy Airbnb rentals are also bookable, making a destination wedding more affordable than you would have anticipated. Because you may "live" anywhere you want and don't have to worry about hiding your stacks of unopened mail, getting married at an Airbnb is like getting married at your own home—only better.

As scheduling stays rather than events is Airbnb's actual and original purpose as a platform, you must inform the host of your plans for a ceremony before making a reservation. Several of the hosts on this list have an additional cost for the wedding package. Continue reading to learn about nine of our favorite Airbnb wedding venues.

Unless otherwise noted, these properties are vetted based on Superhost status, amenities, location, prior guest ratings, and décor, even if we haven't been in every Airbnb featured. Since this gallery's first publication, more information has been added.

Tuscany

Italy's Tuscany

The lavender-lined garden stairs at The Marchese Estate are perfect for couples who want to make a statement. There is space at the bottom of the steps for 100 people to enjoy Aperol Spritzes beside the expansive pool and on the grass. The six acres of grounds around the 18th-century Tuscan house provide different photo opportunities, including a wall covered in vegetation, a tiny pool with a bridge, and an old brick arch at the end of the main pool. With bedrooms split over the main villa and two separate apartments, there is space inside for the happy couple as well as 16 guests of the bridal party to spend the night.

Bedfordshire

UK's Bedfordshire

Hinwick House was constructed in 1710 to serve as the aristocratic Orelbar family's main house. The rural mansion just underwent a thorough renovation, maintaining its 300-year history and making it available for big group stays and weddings. Initially built after Buckingham Palace, this location treats couples like royalty with opulent four-poster beds, seven hand-made crystal chandeliers, a majestic wooden staircase, and one of the great collections of antique Persian rugs. The main house has more than 20 bedrooms, and three of the estate's cottages are also available for rental. Both a huge marquee and 100 guests can attend events within the home.

Ibiza

Spain's Ibiza

The White Pearl, as its name indicates, is a blindingly white party house less than 10 minutes from Ibiza's downtown. The home is the perfect party pad in classic Ibizan fashion, especially the expansive pool deck with a solitary bar, Balinese daybed, a big LOVE sign, and an LED multicolor system. The vistas are supposedly exceptionally stunning after sunset. All six bedrooms feature en-suite baths and sea views; some open onto the second-floor terrace. The expansive white lounge has plenty of space for recuperation after the celebration.

Crete-1

Greece's Crete

This Greek house is primarily a vacation residence with adequate space for a wedding. All six of the guest rooms feature modern ensuite bathrooms, so guests don't have to use the straw method to choose their rooms. A crib, a baby monitor, and even safety gates are available, making the area kid-friendly so that parents of young children may relax. The indoor pool below features a hydromassage feature, making it ideal for unwinding the day before the wedding. The outside area, which includes a sizable elevated terrace with views of the outdoor pool and the Mediterranean in the distance, is where the house shines. While a wedding ceremony may certainly be held here, the home also boasts a lovely whitewashed chapel on its property, with room for a reception just outside.

Torno

Italy's Torno

We are compelled to represent Italy on our list twice, this time with a property located directly on Lake Como. This secluded location, which overlooks a vast and crystalline lake, is ideal for producing images worthy of being published in Vogue Weddings. As the home beds eight people and the location where you would have the event can accommodate up to 20 guests on-site, it is the perfect location for a small wedding. (Bonus: The hosts just built a brand-new stone pool.) The minimum stay is four nights.

Ferndale

California's Ferndale

This stylish converted barn features repurposed furniture, a flourishing atrium garden in the back, and is big on charm and low on waste. It's our top choice for couples who love the outdoors because it's close to hiking trails and a gurgling stream. Online vendors provide small wedding packages that include all-inclusive services including event planning, atrium rental, flowers, a bespoke cake, a three-course menu of locally sourced seasonal cuisine, photography, and more. The town of Ferndale, where this unusual site is located, is great for a wedding weekend with live music, coffee shops, horse racing at the Humboldt County Fair, and a wetland nature sanctuary.

Montevarchi

Italy's Montevarchi

It is similar to entering the beautiful home from the Call Me By Your Name set to enter this Tuscan stone farmhouse, which is located a half-hour train journey from Florence. One of our top favorite Airbnb wedding sites, this gorgeous ancient property is surrounded by sculptures, century-old trees, three private pools, olive gardens, and meadows. The larger estate can accommodate 26 people and includes a stone amphitheater that seems like it was created specifically for ceremonies, so it's not an unfeasible choice either.

Ithaca

New York's Ithaca

This Ithaca home, highlighted on the website Junebug Weddings, is a charming location to exchange vows in a setting that is serene, tranquil, and full of gentle romanticism. The anticipation for the big day will grow as you observe the early mist hanging between the trees. The charming home offers three bedrooms (with space for six people) and three bathrooms in addition to a soaking tub, marble showers, and a wraparound terrace. The best part is that the 30 acres it lies on include horse fields where the host's wild horses play, apple orchards, a sizable pond, vistas of rolling hills, and so on. Check out our favorite escapes from NYC and more of our favorite upstate New York Airbnbs here (which, of course, includes Ithaca and the rest of the Finger Lakes region).

Chicago-1

Illinois's Chicago

This glammed-up, sunny Chicago loft that was formerly a factory now hosts weddings, pop-up events, art openings, family reunions, extravagant dinner parties, and photo shoots. It's one of our top choices for a wedding in the city. It already seems spacious and airy, but the addition of skylights and 26-foot oak beams makes it seem much bigger and lighter. (The loft measures 5,307 by 2000 square feet and features 14 beds in addition to two enormous couches and extra air mattresses.) One of LOFT606's greatest features for weddings is a huge gourmet kitchen with modern appliances; other highlights include the full bar, garden terrace, rooftop deck, and Jacuzzi tub. Individual quotes for events depend on the number of visitors and the answers to additional inquiries concerning the function that must be addressed before booking. Private chefs, bartenders, and even spa services are among the essential extras available upon request.

Ipswich

Massachusetts's Ipswich

This clean, bright, recently built North Shore home with views of the Ipswich River makes the ideal setting for a wedding. The gleaming, clean white trim creates the ideal atmosphere for a tiny, tender New England elopement. The second-floor apartment, which has French doors, a balcony, and a soaking tub, is a bride-to-dream come true. Bonus: clear views of the setting sun. The three-bedroom home is not far from Crane's Beach, where visitors may enjoy the sun the next morning.

Coxsackie

New York City's Coxsackie

One must ascend a winding road in the Hudson Valley to see Windrift Hall, an 18th-century estate with a bathing pond perched atop a hill. This 14-person, five-bedroom home is a treasure trove of antiquities and has a library. After waking up in a warm house with your closest friends and family, saying "I do" on the expansive lawn in the spring, summer, or fall seems like a dream.

Fredericksburg-1

Texas's Fredericksburg

The 65-acre Ginger Ranch has a pavilion and a ceremony arch; this location is truly a full deal. Your big day couldn't be any easier with a dance floor, 13 picnic tables, and 60 wooden chairs. Additionally, the main cabin and the five cabins that come with renting the ranch can accommodate up to 16 guests. Spend some time unwinding after the wedding by the lovely pool and on-site spa.

East Point

Georgia's East Point

Consuming your union is cool... But have you ever attempted a 400-year-old tree for a wedding venue? Did not believe so. (If you have, then leave.) The owners of this one-bedroom oak treehouse also own five additional tiny homes on the property that can house up to 15 additional guests and share amenities like a hot tub, grill, koi pond, and an outdoor shower. However, this treehouse is by no means large enough to accommodate your entire wedding party.
