Passengers can now use the brand-new and significantly upgraded Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport, which had been closed for several months due to construction.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in November to celebrate the completion of the new terminal, which had been undergoing renovations since the year 2018. It has more than one million square feet of space and 21 gates, with 12 more to open this year; it cost $2.7 billion to build and can accommodate as many as 13 million passengers yearly, which is around four million more than the previous terminal could. In addition to this, it features brand new eateries, retail outlets, a play area for children, and lounges, one of which is the brand new 18,000-square-foot American Express Centurion Lounge.

The new terminal is equipped with cutting-edge technology, such as touchless security and check-in, to cater to the requirements of passengers. The Port Authority is hopeful that this will result in shorter wait times, increased efficiency, and an overall better experience for customers. In addition, there are four lanes of traffic that flow outside the terminal, and these lanes are divided into the following four categories: private automobiles, rideshares, taxis, and public transportation.

A computerised sculpture that takes passengers on a tour of New Jersey's most famous locations is also on exhibit in the new area, which also features one-of-a-kind art works created by 29 local artists. Solar panels are installed on the roof of the parking lot, and the building itself is equipped with water- and energy-saving features such as sinks, toilets, and lighting. In addition, the building is designed to be sustainable, which plays a significant role in the design process.

"The new Terminal A at Newark Airport is a marvel of the 21st century, with state-of-the-art check-in, security, and touchless e-gate technology among its many cutting-edge features. An distinct New Jersey feeling of place is also created with iconic concessions, public artwork, and highly creative digital displays, among other things "At the event in November where the ribbon was cut, Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton made the following statement. "The new Terminal A at Newark is a shining example of the Port Authority's commitment to develop inspiring and appealing world-class transportation facilities for the region," the Port Authority has said.

Those who are loyal to United Airlines will be pleased to learn that the company occupies the vast majority of the area at the terminal. Despite this, the location is used by a number of other major airlines, such as Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, and JetBlue.

"The unveiling of Terminal A in November marks the culmination of the largest infrastructure project I have had the honour of overseeing during my administration," said New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. "It also brings to fruition our vision for a state founded upon sound infrastructure and fueled by economic opportunity." "...Terminal A is completely changing the way people travel in a state that has always been and will continue to be a model for the rest of the country to emulate."

The reconstruction effort for the airport will also result in the construction of a new parking structure that will include rental car facilities as well as new asphalt for the south airfield, bringing the total value of the upgrades to $3.3 billion.
