Ski destinations will remain open through the summer; here's how to get a discount

Resorts
You might think that it's time to put away your skates for the season now that April is right around the corner. There has been an unprecedented amount of snowfall this year, and as a result, many mountains have decided to extend the skiing season. This is not an April Fool's joke; skiing will continue well into the summer.

The year 2023 is the one to do it in if you've always wanted to check "spring skiing" (or even summer skiing) off of your bucket list.

Skiing is possible in the Sierra Nevada, the Wasatch Mountains, and the Northern Rockies well into the summer months because there is so much snow and more on the way. For instance, Brighton received more than 740 inches of snow, and Mammoth has tallied over 800 inches, which indicates that the major resorts in the western United States will be able to provide excellent skiing for the months to come.

And if you can believe it, a lot of mountains will even let you ski for free for the remainder of the season if you buy a season pass for the following year at the same time.

Therefore, before you bid farewell to winter, you should begin planning your next skiing vacation, preferably somewhere with incredible snow and great deals.

The snow season is being extended at many resorts.

California's Palisades Tahoe region

THE POINTS GUY-29
On the Upper Mountain, Palisades Tahoe is about to break the 700-inch snowfall record, which is significantly more than the typical 400 inches that it receives during a season. Because of the large quantity of snowfall, the ski season has already been extended through July 4; however, the Palisades side of the mountain will close in June; Alpine will be the only open side.

Skiing at Palisades Tahoe is included in the Ikon Ski Pass, so if you have a pass for the upcoming season 2023-2024, you can use it to ski for free this spring, beginning on April 10, 2023. You read that correctly: if you buy a ski ticket for the following year, you will not be charged any additional fees to ski during the spring or summer of 2023.

Tickets for the remainder of the season can be purchased at a discounted rate if you are not interested in purchasing a pass at this time. A bundle of three can be purchased for the low price of $143. You can keep all of the tickets for yourself, or you can divide them up among your buddies. In the ski industry, skiing for less than $50 per day is considered an incredible deal, particularly at a premier resort.

the Californian mountain Mammoth

Do you want to snowboard while wearing your swimsuit? The Mammoth Mountain ski resort will remain open through July. There has been a record amount of snowfall in Mammoth, making it possible that it will be the best location to ski this summer. At the moment, the ski resort has received a total of 702 inches of snow at the main cabin and 879 inches at the peak. In addition to that, the weather prediction calls for more snow to fall.

Similarly to Palisades Tahoe, beginning April 10, 2023, pass holders of the 2023-2024 Ikon snowboard Pass will be able to snowboard for free during the spring and summer seasons.

During the next four months, award accommodations at the Westin Monache Resort in Mammoth can be reserved for a discounted rate of 52,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. Keep in mind that if you use points to pay for your stay, you will receive the fifth night at no cost, which can help reduce expenses on extended trips.

Winter Park, Utah

At the time this article was written, Snowbird had received a record-setting 719 inches of snow, which is approximately four times more than what many of the bigger Northeast resorts have received throughout the entire season. The vacation destination recently disclosed that it will close for the season on Memorial Day and will evaluate the current state of affairs in May to determine whether or not a further expansion is feasible. This means that you will be able to ski and bike every day until May 14, after which you will only be able to do so on the weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) at least until the end of the month.

On April 13, Snowbird will also begin selling season passes for the 2023-2024 ski season. These passes will include free admission to the spring season for the current ski season. Even though the mountain is included in the Ikon Ski Pass, the resort is not eligible for the free spring skiing advantage that comes with the pass.

On the other hand, the facility is running a promotion called "Spring Ski & Stay." If you reserve lodging for a stay of two nights or more, you'll get a daily lift ticket for each adult in your party. As part of this package, children under the age of 12 can snowboard without paying at all.

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado

FACEBOOK2-1
Since it will be the first resort in Colorado to open for the 2023–2024 ski season, there is a strong possibility that it will also be the last resort in the state to shutter.

This winter, the resort has received a total of 205 inches of precipitation so far. According to the averages of the previous months, there is a good possibility that another 70 inches of snow will fall over the next two months. Since there has been no decision made regarding when the mountain will close, it may remain open at least until the beginning of June. The ski resort has been closed on June 5 and June 6, respectively, for the past two years, so it's a fairly good bet that A-Basin will continue to offer skiing into the summer.

The Ikon Ski Pass gives skiers access to A-Basin. Nevertheless, the spring and summer seasons will not be included in the ticket for the following year. If you intend to go skiing at this resort, however, you should make sure to purchase your lift tickets in preparation so that you do not find yourself unable to do so.

Bottom line

THE POINTS GUY1-22
Do not pack away your skis just yet, and do not say goodbye to the snow just yet.

This winter is shaping up to be one of the most memorable in western history. Even though I've only skied for about 20 days so far this season and live on the East Coast, the fact that so many mountains in the West are extending their seasons makes it possible that I'll wind up going on one more trip.
