Things to do this weekend in London
1. Visit a stunning new location
After almost 100 years, the famous nightclub Café de Paris has closed, but the space in West End won't be wasted. L'o London, a stunning new venue, has displaced it. The renowned Spanish company Pacha Group designed the area. With this establishment, Chef Adam Rawson (Isla at The Standard, Pachamama) is in charge of the food, while Chiltern Firehouse alumni Romain Audrerie has put together a sizable wine list. Before the L'o idea debuted in Mykonos and eventually found its way to London, it spent more than a decade being refined in Ibiza. We have high hopes for this fantastic location.
Location: L'Orange London, 3-4 Coventry Street, London W1D 6BL
Online resource: liolondon.co.uk
Open from Wednesday through Saturday as of Friday, March 17.
2. Understand our world better
The Royal Geographical Society has joined forces with performers, visual artists, Indigenous speakers, and other creatives to draw attention to how the current climate catastrophe impacts all of us. An immersive experience exploring ice, from the emotions it arouses in us to the information we have and should have about the Arctic extremities of our planet, is the one-off, jam-packed evening known as Ice Station RGS. Expect to switch between scientific discussions, poetry readings, live music performances, and quizzes because the program is spread out over five rooms.
Address: 1 Kensington Gore, London, SW7 2AR, Royal Geographical Society (with IBG
Web address: rgs.org
Members pay £18; non-members pay £20.

3. Attend a fresh staging of an old play.
Flabbergast Theatre is finally bringing The Tragedy of Macbeth to Southwark Playhouse for a four-week run after a critically lauded performance at the 2022 Fringe Festival. This drama is brought to life using puppetry, masks, and the use of an ensemble, creating a wonderful, clear depiction of one of Shakespeare's finest plays. Moments like Lady Macbeth's ageless soliloquy in Lady Macbeth, which challenge gender stereotypes and men's dread of women in positions of power, are as potent as ever while being accessible to everyone, including aspiring actors and theater audiences.
Address: 77-85 Newington Causeway, Southwark Playhouse Borough, London SE1 6BD

4. Make a (caffeinated) toast
See how some of London's top restaurants shake and mix their version of the traditional drink on this Espresso Martini Day. As the caffeine-fueled trail travels from Sam's Riverside in Hammersmith to Jiji in Islington, some of the capital's mixology gurus are joining in on the fun. The vanilla syrup-infused combination from Como Garden and the toffee espresso martini at El Norte, which has undertones of toasted marshmallow, are two of the tastiest-sounding creations.
Address: 1 Crisp Road, London W6 9DN; Jiji, 6g; Sam's Riverside Como Garden, 37-45 Kensington High Street, London W8 5ED; El Norte, 19-20 Dover Street, London W1S 4LU; Esther Anne Place, London N1 1WL

5. See London from the air
This week, as bartenders get ready for a season of outdoor mixology, celebrate the return of spring-like temps at one of London's greatest rooftop bars. By debuting curated light displays by British sculptor and light artist Raphael Daden in the lobby and atop the hotel in The Nest, Treehouse Hotel London is setting the bar high. Best of all, the teams at Casamigos Tequila, Johnnie Walker, and Seedlip have made a special cocktail menu. One Tree Planted receives a £1 contribution for every fruity concoction sold.
The Nest is located at 14–15 Langham Place in London, W1B 2QS.

6. Enjoy delicious new cuisine.
One of London's most attractive restaurants, Isabel Mayfair, has unveiled brand-new menus to welcome spring. Spanish-born head chef Patricia Lago Vigil heavily affects the new cuisine. In addition to main dishes like grilled octopus with avocado cream and fillets of wild sea bass, expect lobster and the restaurant's characteristic kale, blood orange, and parmesan salads as an appetizer. Instead, indulge in the new brunch menu to conclude the week on a high note. For £55 you get three dishes, a beverage, and a wacky dessert like pineapple carpaccio with hibiscus and jalapenos.

7. Fill up on fried chicken
Fans of fried chicken should flee, not walk. The greatest Thai restaurant in Shoreditch, Smoking Goat, will provide wings and thighs of crispy-skinned, sauce-covered, delectable fried chicken for the entire month of March. Serve with a selection of dips, including the flavorful nahm prik lemongrass and the potent jaew tamarind with smoky chili. The viral meal of wok-fried egg rice noodles with lardo, a transparent tom yum soup with crab and fish, and our favorite dish of stir-fried pork with Chinese olives are all included on the limited edition menu. There's also a whole new cocktail menu to mark the chicken takeover. Our best pick is the mezcal, melon, and coriander-based Snake Eyes, which is sweet and smoky.

8. Have a lobster roll.
Right now, social media feeds are flooded with Instagram-worthy London delicacies, so it takes something scrumptious to attract our attention. But the new lobster katsu curry roll from Burger and Lobster has done just that. Sophie Wyburd and Hannah Crosbie, the foodies behind the top-rated podcast I'll Have What She's Having, made the limited-edition roll for the restaurant's International Women's Day celebrations. Signature toasted brioche rolls are filled with crispy panko lobster meat, covered in a sweet curry sauce, topped with ginger, and drizzled with Kewpie Japanese mayonnaise – happy feasting!

9. Attend a brand-new exhibit
Ermias Ekube and Senegalese artist Eric Pina, both well-known in Africa, are the creators of the most recent show to occupy the Ed Cross Gallery. Identity, cultural ownership, and the environment are just a few of the issues that are present throughout Foreign Lands. Without its contextual context, Pina's arresting sculptures arouse a deeper level of interest in the observer. They are contrasted with Ekube's semi-abstract paintings, which show a blank that has to be filled by the viewer's imagination.
Address: 19 Garrett Street, London EC1Y 0TY, Ed Cross
Internet address: edcrossfineart.com
Dates: Until Saturday, March 25, 2023
10. Add some color to a gray evening
Discover one of London's newest galleries after hours thanks to a lineup of activities the Haricot Gallery has started. These are in honor of Constance Read's The Chaos Shapes of an Organized Mind, the gallery's most recent exhibition. Silkscreen prints and monoprints from Read's most recent body of work stand out against the gallery's vividly colored walls. Across two levels, the artist's propensity to switch between chaotic and orderly styles is explored; you'll discover brain-pleasingly geometric shapes in one area and freestyle artwork in the other.
Address: 2 Blackall Street, London EC2A 4AD, Haricot Gallery
Internet address: haricotgallery.com
Dates: The exhibit runs until Saturday, March 18; Thursday, March 16, and Friday, March 17, have extended hours (until 9 p.m.).
11. Have a cheap negroni.
Fans of Italy, rejoice! Padella Shoreditch, a pasta destination in London, has introduced negroni nights, where one of the country's favorite cocktails is available for just two pounds with every plate of pasta. Slurp on plates of the iconic cacio e pepe and creamy, nduja-coated fettuccine while sipping the stiff beverage. Next, spend the money you saved on something extra. The bruschetta with black iberiko tomatoes and wild oregano is a good choice.
